We’ve just found out that luxury heritage brand Balenciaga has announced that 17 year old Dutch newcomer Laura Kampman will be modelling for their spring 2012 ad campaign.

Not only do we love to see a completely unknown face chosen over celebrities and household model names, but we are big fans of Kampman’s androgynous bone structure.

And it seems we’re not the only ones. Kampman also walked exclusively for Balenciaga’s spring 2012 catwalk in September, and is currently featured in an editorial in January’s British Vogue.

Kampman is proving that unique features like hers are more than just a fad – the industry is loving fresh new faces that make more of a lasting impression next to what is typically ‘beautiful’.

Although the spring 2012 ad campaign has already been shot by Steven Meisel, the images won’t come out until January. But Models Direct thinks that Kampman’s unusual looks and fresh face shape will mean that Balenciaga’s shots will really stand out next year.
